A New Adventure
COTSWOLD BOUND
With the finishing of my previous syndicate ticket, the opportunity to begin on a new venue came about. The prospect of not only a fresh challenge, but a more secluded path meant that I was eager to get going. The resident anglers were just as welcoming as the fishing it seemed and I was relieved
at such a pleasant atmosphere.
With this new chapter came a new perspective and my approach adapted to meet the requirements of the lake. With it being the start of August, I decided that both the marine and heat boilies would constitute the bulk of a mix. I would also utilise the matching pellets, liquid fish and C-Stim powder to really enhance the attraction levels. Due to the nature of the lake bed, I was confident using a helicopter lead system and small pop ups on Slip-D rotary rigs. These would be despatched to firmer areas in the pond, as the lake was largely featureless.
A great start
Pawprint a rare prize
The lake was always relatively quiet in the day but awoke at night. Fish would show and feed merrily when the lights went out and this leant itself perfectly to the time available to me. Nights between work were commonplace and this allowed me to spend the days I had off with my family.
Initially the fishing began well and I managed some lovely carp, including a rare one known as ‘Pawprint’. At just over 40lb it was a lovely carp and a real confidence boost. As the autumn wore on I was still catching a few, but decided to think about the ensuing winter. Although I was confident in my approach, I discussed a few bait matters with Mark at Baitworks HQ. Having spoken, I decided I would alter my approach as the water cooled down and change to using a mix of creamino and monster red. I would again use the relevant pellets and liquids, but also add a healthy amount of
hemp to the mix.

A Team Haul
As we moved into November, I made the change. The first trip went well and two fish to mid 30’s tripped up. I must mention that I was still using my small pop ups at this stage, however I had added an entire bottle of the small boosters in the matching flavour, the scent from heaven.
In the last few sessions, I fully believe that these changes have made a real difference in my results. By watching the fish and more importantly listening late into the night, I have managed to get on them and catch them. As a result, I have had what I can only remember as being my most successful November in regards to target fish, catching 3 more of the big 40lb mirrors the lake holds.

Winter is just around the corner
I type the weather is currently snowing and we are a few days away from December. I’m hoping to keep this run of form going, but I’m resigned to the fact that at some point things will slow down. This winter I have a few social trips planned and some fishing to do elsewhere, but whilst things are good I will keep rolling the dice back at the syndicate.
Moving forward I’m hoping to keep these blogs a regular thing. Some will be technical, some will have stories of success or failure and some will just be ramblings about carp, work, family and everything in between. Until the next one then, tight lines and speak soon. Contact us for more information
